Biography 

Dr. med. Barbara Pompei began her training in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Department of Plastic Surgery of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2013.

From 2017 to 2020 she worked as Senior Specialist in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and Hand Surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London (UK). At the same hospital she held a Microfellow position from 2019 to 2020, specialising in breast reconstruction.

Between 2018 and 2020 she also completed a Master’s degree (M.Sc) in Oncology, Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Breast Surgery at the Reconstructive Microsurgery European School (RMES).

Currently, Dr. med. Pompei works as a specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Plastic Surgery Group (PSG) in Zurich (CH).

From 2019 to 2020 she was Specialist in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (IT), where she undertook a research project in microsurgery to establish a basic microsurgery unit and a training laboratory.

From 2020 to 2023 she served as Senior Consultant in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC) in Lugano (CH). There she mainly treated senology patients and was a key member of the staff of the Centro di Senologia della Svizzera Italiana (CSSI).

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. med. Pompei participates as a speaker and faculty member at various national and international conferences, and is active in academic teaching and research in the UK, Italy and Switzerland. She is author and co-author of scientific articles and book chapters.

Since November 2023 she has joined the team at the new Affidea BrustCare Ticino of Affidea Switzerland as Plastic Surgeon.
