BRA Day Zurich
The BRA Day (Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day) was launched in 2011 by the Canadian Willow Foundation. Its aim is to raise global awareness of breast reconstruction options after breast cancer. In Zurich, we also provide a safe and trusting environment for information, exchange, and counselling – offered by both experts and patients alike.

On Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day 2025 (BRA Day), we are deliberately foregoing a live event on site – instead setting a strong, lasting signal for education and visibility.
Coinciding with BRA Day Zurich 2025, we celebrate the launch of our new Brustcare Podcast. In the first episode, “My Breast Cancer Journey”, patients from the Plastic Surgery Group share openly and movingly about their personal path – from diagnosis through breast reconstruction to returning to everyday life.
A topic fully in line with the spirit of BRA Day: inform, educate, encourage.
From October onwards, you can expect new episodes every 4–6 weeks, offering fascinating insights, first-hand expertise, and personal stories on breast health, reconstruction, and aftercare.
BRA Day Zurich | Review 2024
BRA Day 2024 was dedicated to wellbeing around breast reconstruction. Our visitors were able to attend informative lectures and personal discussions with our medical team – covering everything from medical procedures to aesthetic details. Alongside exciting topics such as oxygen therapy, scar treatment, and nipple pigmentation, yoga sessions and a relaxing apéro created a special atmosphere.
A heartfelt thank you to all participants for your trust and openness! We are already looking forward to the next BRA Day.
BRA Day Zurich | Review 2021
This and last year were different… That is why BRA Day Zurich on 20 October 2021 took place in a slightly different format.
Affected women today are open about showing their external and internal scars. On this subject, we produced the short film “Breast Reconstruction – Uncovered”. Five women speak about rebuilding the breast after cancer – or choosing not to. Five women – five perspectives. The film takes a critical look at the topic and portrays, in an honest and empathetic way, the diverse stories of the participants.
Via livestream, we broadcast the film premiere and the subsequent discussion with the participants, Dr. Alessia Lardi from the Plastic Surgery Group, and Dr. Esther Amann-Adam from the Breast Centre Zurich. Dear Enza, Gesina, Jasmin, Lisa & Ursina: our warmest thanks to all five protagonists for your openness – the film is deeply moving. Special thanks also to Manuela Birghan for moderating the discussion, as well as to all sponsors and partners of this year’s BRA Day.
