Biography 

Prof. Dr. med. Jian Farhadi is an expert in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Breast Surgery. He speaks German, Persian, English, French and Italian.

His medical career began in 1996 as a junior doctor in surgery at the Regional Hospital Burgdorf. Until 2005, he held various positions during his training in different medical fields, including assistant physician in the Department of Visceral and Transplant Surgery at Inselspital Bern, in the Department of Reconstructive Surgery and Surgery at the University Hospital Basel, and at Yale University.

Thanks to his recognised expertise and passion for medicine, he was appointed senior physician in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the University Hospital Basel in 2005, completed a fellowship in microsurgical reconstruction at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, and obtained the FMH specialist title. His academic career was crowned in 2007 with habilitation and teaching at the University of Basel, followed by his appointment as titular professor in 2016.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London became his professional home from 2007, where he expanded his skills and knowledge, first as Consultant and later as Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In 2016 he returned to Switzerland, where he founded the Plastic Surgery Group and became Head of Plastic Surgery at the Breast Centre Zurich. 

Alongside his surgical work, Prof. Dr. med. Jian Farhadi is a member of numerous prestigious professional societies, including the Swiss Society for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, the Swiss Society of Senology, the European Association of Plastic Surgeons, the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

He is also active in teaching and research. In 2014 he founded the London Breast Meeting, which has become the leading congress in breast medicine. His scientific output includes more than 100 publications, ranging from innovative research to book chapters, and enjoys an excellent reputation among peers.
