Biography 

Dr. med. Vendela Grufman is a specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and Head of Breast Reconstruction at the Plastic Surgery Group AG in Zurich. Originally from Sweden, she speaks her native language as well as fluent German and English.

She completed her medical studies at the Julius-Maximilians University in Würzburg in 2013. In 2019 she obtained the European Board Certification EBOPRAS, and in 2020 the Swiss Specialist Title FMH in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.

Her passion for breast plastic surgery led her to pursue a Master’s degree in surgical oncology, reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery at the Reconstructive Microsurgery European School in Barcelona. Her specialities include microsurgical autologous breast reconstruction and lymphatic surgery.

Dr. med. Vendela Grufman has extensive professional experience. From 2013 to 2020 she worked at Spital Uster and the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital in General Surgery as well as in the Department of Plastic and Hand Surgery. This was followed by two years of Clinical Fellowships in Zurich, Stockholm and Melbourne. At the renowned “Akademikliniken” in Stockholm she broadened her scope of aesthetic procedures. Particularly noteworthy is her work as Clinical Fellow at the internationally recognised “The Royal Women’s Hospital” in Melbourne, Australia, where she performed over 200 cases, refining her microsurgical skills in implant-based and autologous breast reconstruction as well as lymphatic surgery.

With numerous publications and book chapters on topics such as Autologous Breast Reconstruction and Corrections after Breast Reconstruction, Dr. med. Vendela Grufman makes a valuable scientific contribution to the advancement of breast surgery.
