What is liposuction?
During liposuction, fat deposits are removed using very fine cannulas in order to harmonise the body's silhouette, contours and proportions.
This is not a surgical treatment for obesity, but rather a way of removing localised fat deposits that do not respond to measures such as diet and exercise. The aim of liposuction is to harmonise body proportions with long-lasting effect.
About the treatment
Very thin cannulas are inserted through tiny incisions in the problem area, which are barely visible afterwards, to remove the fat deposits. Depending on the part of the body and the amount of excess fat, we perform liposuction manually or using the MicroAire device. Its vibrations enable precise suction, minimising the risk of indentations.
Areas that respond well to liposuction include the abdomen, flanks, inner and outer thighs, and inner knees. Depending on the elasticity of the skin, liposuction under the chin (to remove a double chin) can deliver effective results.
Typical areas of application
- To remove fat deposits from the abdomen, hips, upper thighs or back
- To treat stubborn fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise
When is it recommended?
- For localised excess fat despite a healthy lifestyle
- When a permanent improvement in body contour is desired
"Our cosmetic treatments focus on subtle changes with lasting effects for your inner and outer balance."
FAQs
What exactly happens during liposuction, and why is a tumescent solution used?
Before fat is removed, a special fluid – known as tumescent solution – is injected into the treatment area through small, barely visible incisions in the skin. This solution numbs the area so that the procedure is painless. At the same time, it constricts the blood vessels, minimising bleeding during the operation. The solution also causes the fat cells to burst, which makes liposuction easier and makes the treatment more effective.
Do I have to wear a girdle after the operation? For how long?
Yes, after liposuction, it is important to wear a compression girdle or special compression garments for 4 to 6 weeks. It supports the reduction of swelling, stabilises the tissue and helps to shape the new body contour. It can also reduce the risk of fluid accumulation (seromas).
What is meant by the term “body shaping”?
Body shaping is about sculpting the body in a targeted manner, not simply removing fat. Liposuction is used to harmoniously contour specific areas (e.g. waist, hips, thighs). The fat is then injected back into areas where an increase in volume is desired. The aim is to achieve an aesthetic, balanced overall appearance – often with clearer transitions and more defined lines than before.
