When is a thigh lift the right choice?
After massive weight loss or with increasing age, excess skin on the inner thighs can become functionally and aesthetically problematic. Despite physical activity, the situation usually does not improve, as sagging skin and stubborn fat deposits cannot be reduced through exercise alone.
In such cases, a surgical thigh lift is advisable. The aim of the procedure is to remove excess skin and tighten the contour of the thigh.
About the treatment
If the excess skin is not very noticeable, a horizontal incision in the groin area is sufficient. In severe cases of excess skin, as often occurs after massive weight loss, a vertical incision on the inner thigh (extending to the inside of the knee) is required. If necessary, this can be combined with a horizontal incision to achieve the best possible result.
In most cases, thigh lift surgery is combined with fat removal (liposuction). First, the excess fat is removed before the sagging skin is tightened. This allows for particularly harmonious and aesthetic contouring of the thighs.
Afterwards, we recommend wearing compression leggings for 6 weeks to achieve an optimal contour.
Typical areas of application
- For significant excess skin on the inner thighs, often following massive weight loss
- Sagging skin structures in the thigh area due to age-related skin changes
When is it recommended?
- When exercise and diet no longer achieve sufficient improvement in terms of skin tightening and contouring
- In the event of functional limitations such as skin irritation, friction or restricted mobility due to excess skin
“My aim is to offer personalised treatment and to restore and optimise the aesthetic appearance of physical changes that occur as a result of everyday life and ageing. Achieving a natural look is our top priority."
FAQs
What should I do if I am not satisfied with the result?
If the result after complete healing does not meet expectations – for example, due to asymmetrical contours, excess skin or scarring – corrective surgery can be performed. However, this is only advisable at the earliest 6 to 12 months after the first procedure, once healing is complete.
How prominent is the scar?
The scars are placed as inconspicuously as possible on the inner thigh. With a vertical incision, it extends from the groin to just above the knee; with a horizontal incision, it runs along the groin. Depending on skin type and individual healing, the scars may be visible at first, but they usually fade significantly over time. Good scar care and avoiding sunlight can further improve the appearance.
Are the lymph vessels preserved during the operation?
Yes, during a thigh lift, care is taken to preserve the superficial lymphatic vessels. Nevertheless, temporary swelling may occur, which usually subsides spontaneously. In individual cases, lymphatic drainage may be useful as a supportive measure.
