Breast surgery for trans people
Breast surgery as part of gender reassignment surgery for trans people is an integral part of our range of services. Our aim is to accompany you on your personal journey with compassion and expertise – offering medically substantiated and aesthetically sophisticated solutions.
About the treatment
During gender reassignment surgery, the breasts are enlarged using implants or the patient's own fat (male-to-female transition) or reduced by means of removing the mammary gland or liposuction (female-to-male transition), depending on the planned treatment.
Male-to-female transition
In a transition to female, breast augmentation is usually performed using silicone implants. Depending on your physique, these can be positioned above or below the pectoral muscle to achieve a harmonious, natural result. In some cases, a repeat fat transfer (lipofilling) can also be performed to shape a feminine breast, especially if a moderate increase in volume is desired.
Female-to-male transition
When transitioning to male, the main surgical step is to remove the mammary gland (subcutaneous mastectomy). Depending on the initial shape and size of the chest, we use various techniques to create a flat, masculine chest contour. In some cases, skin tightening is also necessary. We often combine subcutaneous mastectomy with liposuction to achieve the most natural and defined appearance of the upper body possible.
“We set the highest standards for breast reconstruction and develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. This is the only way to achieve the best possible result and the highest possible quality of life.”
FAQs
What cup size can I expect?
The cup size that can be achieved depends on your starting situation and the method chosen. With implants, an increase of 1–2 cup sizes is usually possible – or more, if desired. With a fat transfer, approximately half to one cup size can be achieved per session. The exact plan is tailored to your individual wishes and proportions.
Will I still have sensation in my nipples?
In most cases, sensation in the nipple remains intact. However, temporary changes in sensitivity may occur, which usually subside over time. Certain surgical methods or complications may also lead to permanent changes in sensation – we will explain this in detail during your consultation.
Is augmentation using my own fatty tissue (lipofilling) an option for me?
Whether or not a fat transfer breast augmentation is suitable for you depends on various factors, such as your body fat percentage, breast shape and desired result. In a personal consultation, we will examine your individual situation and advise you in detail on the options available.
