How does a facelift work?
With age, the skin loses elasticity and the underlying tissue also slackens – the first visible signs of ageing. A facelift can correct these changes in a targeted and effective manner.

This not only tightens the skin, but also lifts what is known as the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) – the deeper layer of tissue – and returns it to its original position. Excess skin is removed, creating a natural and fresh-looking rejuvenating effect.
Thanks to state-of-the-art surgical techniques, the incisions are inconspicuous: Positioned discreetly in front of and behind the ear and on the hairline in the temple region. Consequently, the scars are barely visible later on.
Depending on the individual situation, a facelift can be combined with other procedures, such as fat transfer (lipofilling) to restore lost volume, eyelid lifting or even a neck lift to achieve a harmonious overall appearance.
We would be happy to advise you personally on the options available and work with you to develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
About the treatment
Over the years, the skin on the face loses its elasticity and deeper layers of tissue also start to sag, and the first signs of ageing such as wrinkles and loss of contour begin to appear. A facelift makes it possible to reverse these changes in a targeted and lasting manner.
Typical areas of application
- For visibly sagging skin in the middle and lower face
- For deep nasolabial folds or marionette lines
When is it recommended?
- When conservative measures (e.g. fillers, lasers) no longer have a sufficient effect
- For patients wishing for a long-lasting and natural-looking rejuvenation effect
“My aim is to offer personalised treatment and to restore and optimise the aesthetic appearance of physical changes that occur as a result of everyday life and ageing. Achieving a natural look is our top priority."
FAQs
Will I look like I've had surgery or look unnatural after a facelift?
No. A modern facelift aims to achieve a natural, fresh appearance – not a "surgical face". Gentle techniques and discreet incisions preserve your facial expressions, resulting in a harmonious and natural look.
Does a facelift need to be repeated over time?
A facelift permanently rejuvenates the face by several years – but the ageing process continues. Depending on skin type, lifestyle and genetics, it may be advisable to have another facelift after around 10–15 years. However, repetition is not absolutely necessary. Often, complementary, less invasive treatments are sufficient to maintain the result in the long term.
Is the neck also tightened during a facelift?
A classic facelift primarily tightens the face. If there is also significant sagging skin or wrinkling in the neck area, the facelift can be combined with a neck lift. This combination creates a harmonious, naturally rejuvenated overall appearance. Whether the neck is also treated depends on the individual assessment and your personal wishes – we will be happy to discuss this with you during your personal consultation.
How long will I be unfit for social activities after a facelift?
As a rule, you should expect to take a break from social activities for around 10 to 14 days. Swelling and bruising are normal after the procedure and will subside significantly within the first two weeks. Light make-up application is usually possible after approximately 10 days. The recovery time may vary depending on the extent of the procedure and your individual healing process. We will closely monitor you during this phase to ensure the best possible recovery.
