How does facial lipofilling work?
In addition to decreasing elasticity of the skin, loss of volume is one of the most typical signs of ageing. This is particularly noticeable in the cheeks, temples and around the eyes.
Lipofilling offers an effective way to restore lost volume. This involves extracting the patient's own fat and injecting it into specific areas where more volume is desired (microfat) or where skin regeneration is to be promoted (nanofat).
This procedure achieves natural, long-lasting results and also enables the removal of unwanted fat deposits.
About the treatment
With age, the face loses volume – especially in the cheeks, temples and under the eyes. This is where lipofilling comes in, offering an effective, natural solution: The body's own fat is used to replenish lost volume and to visibly improve the skin structure with targeted results. The method combines gentle regeneration with a rejuvenating effect – without the use of any foreign materials.
Typical areas of application
- To restore volume to cheeks, temples or under the eyes
- To rejuvenate skin using nanofat in the face, neck or décolletage
When is it recommended?
- For age-related loss of volume or sunken facial areas
- When the patient wants a natural effect without the use of foreign materials
“My aim is to offer personalised treatment and to restore and optimise the aesthetic appearance of physical changes that occur as a result of everyday life and ageing. Achieving a natural look is our top priority."
FAQs
How much volume can be added at once?
The amount of fat that can be injected in one lipofilling session depends on the individual situation – for example, the treatment area, the amount of fat available and the desired results. Moderate volumes are usually injected to ensure optimal healing and a natural result. Your doctor will discuss the exact amount with you during the consultation and tailor a treatment plan specifically to your needs.
What is nanofat?
Nanofat is a specially processed form of the body's own fat, which contains particularly fine fat cells and, most importantly, lots of regenerative stem cells. Compared with normal fat (macrofat), nanofat is filtered and broken down in a complex process so that the cell-rich components in particular are preserved.
Nanofat is primarily used to promote skin regeneration and rejuvenation. Unlike normal lipofilling, nanofat is used less for volume augmentation and more for skin rejuvenation and regeneration.
Is the result permanent or does the procedure need to be repeated?
The results of lipofilling are usually long-lasting, as a large proportion of the transplanted fat grows permanently into the tissue. However, the body does break down some of the fat that has been inserted, usually within the first three months.
Depending on individual circumstances and the desired result, a refresher treatment or repeat procedure may be advisable in order to maintain optimal volume. However, the procedure is generally designed to achieve natural and lasting results.
What is the advantage of this treatment compared with using hyaluronic acid to build volume?
The advantage of volume enhancement with fat transfer (lipofilling) compared to hyaluronic acid lies primarily in the durability and naturalness of the result.
While hyaluronic acid only has a temporary effect and is broken down by the body after a few months, lipofilling has a long-lasting effect, because the body's own fatty tissue grows in and remains in place.
In addition, lipofilling can simultaneously reduce unwanted fat deposits as an added benefit. The treatment not only adds volume, but also promotes skin regeneration and ensures a very natural result.
