How does a neck lift work?
With age, the skin loses elasticity and volume – especially in the neck area. A neck lift can correct these age-related changes: This involves lifting and tightening the skin, the underlying tissue and the platysma (superficial neck muscles). Excess skin is removed and the natural contour of the neck is restored – with a visibly rejuvenating effect.
The incision runs discreetly in front of and behind the ears, leaving hardly any visible scars. A neck lift is often combined with a facelift to achieve a harmonious overall appearance.
About the treatment
With age, the skin in the neck area loses elasticity and volume, which can lead to visible wrinkles and sagging skin. A neck lift effectively corrects these changes and restores a more youthful, defined contour.
Typical areas of application
- For sagging or excess skin in the neck area ("turkey neck")
- For prominent bands of muscle or folds on the neck (visible platysma)
When is it recommended?
- For age-related loss of elasticity and sagging neck contours
- When a patient wishes to have a harmonious complement to a facelift
“My aim is to offer personalised treatment and to restore and optimise the aesthetic appearance of physical changes that occur as a result of everyday life and ageing. Achieving a natural look is our top priority."
FAQs
I have a double chin. Is a neck lift the right treatment for me?
That depends on the cause of the double chin. If it is caused by sagging skin and tissue in the neck area – which is often the case with increasing age – a neck lift may be the appropriate treatment. This tightens the excess skin and repositions the tissue beneath it, resulting in more defined neck and chin contours.
If, on the other hand, the double chin is mainly due to increased fatty tissue, then fat removal (liposuction) or a combination of liposuction and a neck lift may be advisable.
Is fat also removed during a neck lift?
A classic neck lift focuses on tightening the skin and underlying tissue. Fat removal (liposuction) is not automatically performed in this procedure, but may be a useful addition depending on the individual case in order to remove excess fat in a targeted manner and optimise the result.
In many cases, we recommend a combination of neck lift and liposuction for a harmonious and natural-looking result.
How long will I be unfit for social activities after the treatment?
After treatment, swelling and bruising usually subside significantly after about 1 to 2 weeks, allowing you to resume your normal social activities. However, this may vary from person to person, depending on the extent of the procedure and your personal healing process. As a rule, we recommend allowing at least 10 to 14 days for recovery.
