Why undergo a labia enlargement procedure?
A loss of volume in the outer labia (labia majora) can occur with age or as a result of hormonal changes and is perceived by many affected women as an aesthetic or functional problem.
About the treatment
Lipofilling offers an effective and natural way to restore volume. This involves removing fatty tissue from another part of the patient’s body (e.g. abdomen, thighs) and injecting it directly into the outer labia. This not only restores volume, but also gently contours a different area of the body – a welcome added benefit for many patients.
Alternatively, temporary filling with hyaluronic acid is possible. This method offers immediately visible results, but these only last for a few months. Lipofilling, on the other hand, leads to long-term, stable results – despite some natural reduction in the first three months – since most of the injected fat grafts permanently.
Typical areas of application
For correcting loss of volume in the outer labia due to age or hormonal changes, as well as gentle contouring of body areas such as the abdomen or thighs through liposuction.
When is it recommended?
For temporary volume augmentation of the outer labia
For immediately visible improvement of aesthetic issues with short duration of effect
“Nobody is perfect, but everyone is unique in their own way.”
FAQs
How much volume can be added at once?
When lipofilling the outer labia, approximately 10 to 20 millilitres of fatty tissue can usually be injected on each side – i.e. a total of approx. 20 to 40 millilitres.
The exact amount depends on several factors:
- The starting situation and tissue elasticity
- The desired volume
- The quality of the fat removed
It is important to understand that a proportion of the fat that is inserted is broken back down by the body in the first few weeks (around 30–50%). Therefore, extra volume is sometimes deliberately injected to compensate for this natural decline. If necessary, the procedure can also be repeated after a few months in order to optimise the results.
