When is labia reduction worthwhile?
With increasing age, after childbirth or due to congenital malformations, enlarged or asymmetrical inner or outer labia can cause not only significant psychological distress for women, but also discomfort during sports or sexual intercourse.
Surgical reduction of the inner labia is a simple procedure with a major impact.
About the treatment
After carefully marking the excess tissue, local anaesthetic is administered. The excess tissue is then removed, preserving the natural appearance of the labia. The procedure does not involve the clitoris itself.
Typical areas of application
- For enlarged or asymmetrical inner labia (labial hypertrophy)
- Friction, pain or irritation during sports, sitting or sexual intercourse
When is it recommended?
- For symptoms causing discomfort in everyday activities
- In cases where aesthetic issues are causing psychological distress and there is a desire for a more harmonious appearance
“Nobody is perfect, but everyone is unique in their own way.”
FAQs
How long after the operation should I refrain from sexual intercourse?
After labia reduction surgery, you should generally refrain from sexual intercourse for 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the healing process, so that the wound can heal undisturbed and there are no infections or wound healing complications.
Will the procedure affect my sexual sensitivity?
Sexual sensitivity is usually preserved after labia reduction surgery. The clitoris is not affected by the operation – only excess tissue from the inner labia is removed. Since the sensitive structures in the genital area are preserved, sensitivity usually remains unchanged. However, temporary irritation or sensitivity may be experienced during the first few weeks after the procedure while the area is healing.
