The key facts

  • Anaesthesia: Local anaesthetic or general anaesthetic
  • Necessary time off work: 2–7 days
  • Duration of surgery: 45 mins
  • Necessary time off sporting activities: 4–6 weeks
  • Type of care: Outpatient basis or inpatient stay (for combined procedures)

When is a mons pubis corrective procedure the right choice?

After significant weight loss, in older age or after pregnancy, the mons pubis (pubic mound) can become saggy and droop. There is also often excess skin on the lower abdomen, which exacerbates aesthetic and functional issues.

The contour of the lower abdomen appears uneven, which can lead to irritation in the skin fold and affect personal well-being. In cases like this, surgical tightening of the mons pubis can provide relief.

About the treatment

The procedure is performed by means of a deep, transverse incision in the skin. The tissue is extracted and returned to its original position. The wound is closed securely in several stages to achieve a long-lasting result.

Depending on the findings of initial examinations, a mons pubis lift can be performed as a standalone procedure or in combination with a tummy tuck – especially if the lower abdomen is also affected.

Typical areas of application

  • For mons pubis that sags or droops after pregnancy, weight loss or with age
  • For excess skin on the lower abdomen causing skin irritation
  • For uneven contours of the lower abdomen and mons pubis
  • In cases of functional impairment caused by skin folds

When is it recommended?

  • For aesthetic discomfort in the genital area
  • For complaints caused by excess skin and irritation
  • In combination with a tummy tuck for simultaneous lower abdomen problems
  • To improve personal well-being

Before treatment
We will hold an in-depth consultation and examination. Where necessary, blood tests will be carried out and the procedure will be planned in detail. You will be fully informed about the procedure and possible risks.

3
After treatment
The surgical site should be rested and cooled. Regular wound checks are important, and wearing a compression girdle is recommended. Physical exertion should be avoided for several weeks.
4
Possible risks and complications
Patients may experience swelling, bruising and wound healing complications. Scarring, infections or temporarily altered sensitivity may occur.
FAQs

FAQs

Are the surgical scars visible in a bikini?

The scars from a mons pubis corrective procedure are usually deep and run across the mons pubis, so they are generally well hidden by a bikini or underwear and remain barely visible.

How will the procedure affect my sex life?

A mons pubis corrective procedure does not usually have a negative impact on sex life. In fact, many patients report increased well-being and greater self-confidence, which can have a positive effect on their intimate relationships. The sensitivity of the area is preserved, as no sensitive nerves are affected.
