Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Affidea Switzerland
How Affidea Uses Artificial Intelligence
At Affidea, we are committed to using Artificial Intelligence (AI) responsibly, transparently, and in a way that supports trust, safety, and high standards of care.
AI technologies can enhance healthcare, communication, and operational efficiency. At the same time, their use requires care, human oversight, and respect for privacy and ethical principles. This statement explains, in clear terms, how Affidea approaches the use of AI across the Group.
Guiding Principles
Affidea follows a set of internal governance rules and ethical principles to ensure that AI is used in a safe and responsible manner across all countries where we operate.
Our approach to AI is based on the following principles:
Human oversight
AI supports people; it does not replace professional judgment.
Safety and reliability
AI systems must be appropriate for their purpose and used responsibly.
Fairness and non discrimination
AI must not unfairly disadvantage individuals or groups.
Transparency
We aim to be open about where and how AI is used.
Privacy and data protection
Personal data must always be handled lawfully and securely.
Accountability
Affidea remains responsible for decisions and outcomes, not algorithms.
Where We Use AI Today
Affidea currently uses AI to support operational, low risk activities, including:
Website and content activities, such as:
- Drafting or structuring initial text versions,
- Image generation for illustrative purposes,
- Content optimisation and SEO analysis,
- Translation of content for multilingual websites.
Operational and administrative support, such as assisting with efficiency or analysis.
Information organisation and productivity support for internal teams.
All AI generated content intended for external use is reviewed and approved by qualified staff before publication.
AI and Patient Care
Patient safety and clinical integrity are central to Affidea’s values.
- AI is not used to make autonomous medical decisions.
- Clinical AI tools, where used, always operate under professional human oversight and must comply with applicable medical device and healthcare regulations.
- AI does not replace clinicians or medical expertise.
Data Protection and Privacy
Affidea takes data protection seriously.
- We do not use AI tools with personal or sensitive data unless permitted by law and appropriately safeguarded.
Personal data with special regard to health data are processed in line with applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR. - Public or unapproved AI tools are not used with confidential or personal data.
- Our use of AI is aligned with Affidea’s Privacy Notices and Data Protection Policies.
Human Review and Quality Control
AI can support creativity and efficiency, but it is not infallible.
- AI generated outputs are always subject to human review before use in patient facing or public materials.
- We do not publish unchecked or fully automated AI generated content where accuracy or reliability matters.
- If AI is used to assist with content creation, the final responsibility always lies with Affidea.
Commitment to Responsible AI
Affidea continuously reviews how AI is used across the Group to ensure alignment with evolving legal, ethical, and professional standards.
We monitor developments in regulation and best practices and adapt our internal governance accordingly to maintain trust with patients, partners, and the public.
